U.S. Open of Surfing Day Four

Overheard from many mommies and daddies out walking with their little two and three year old girls: "Look, Honey, there are girls out there surfing!" Occasionally, one or the other would add: "Will you do that, when you get bigger?"

U. S. Open of Surfing: The Day Before

I went today to see how setup for the U.S. Open of Surfing is going. They've been putting the village up for quite a while, but there is still a lot left to do before tomorrow at 7AM.

Of course, I also spent quite a while on the pier watching the surfers. Some may have been competitors, I don't know.

A Question of Pronunciation

Rob Machado is an amazing surfer, no question about it, and I'm seriously considering hero worship.

But... is it Makhado? Mashado? Or Machado (with the 'ch' as in 'chilli')?

Inquiring minds want to know.

And the announcers were no help whatsoever, as they said all three, at different times, and his official page doesn't include a pronunciation guide.
