Girl Genius--Again
Two of my favorite characters are in the middle of a showdown. Tarvek and Gil really are fun when the get to posturing, and I love the way Agatha responds.
(Which means I also have to link to "Who thought having two boyfriends was a good idea?" at the beginning of the "Cinderella" story).

Girl Genius: Not exactly a book review
So today I am not tackling the enormous backlog of book reviews. Instead, I'm rereading Girl Genius
Starting from the beginning. I know I've mentioned it before. It's a funny, dramatic comic full of unexpected twists and turns and a very clever use of tropes. I've been following it for a while now, but just got seduced into rereading. It may take a while. They're up to Volume Eleven now.
There. That's sort of a book review. Now, go forth and read! You won't regret it.

Girl Genius
Just a quick post to say I'm still really enjoying Girl Genius. It's whacky, unpredictable, and fun. The plot keeps taking unexpected twists and turns, and I care for the characters.
I've mentioned it before--it's a steam-punk comic, sort of Victorian, and has enough plotlines to keep everyone busy for a good long time to come. Yet, I still get the sense that the authors know what is going on--not always the case in big, complex plots with lots of Secret Happenings. It comes out regularly, three times a week, and there's a big archive for new readers, plus character descriptions and summaries.

Girl Genius
I love this bit from Girl Genius and the following two episodes (panels? What is each day's offering called, anyway?) that go with it.

GirlGenius
I've mentioned Girl Genius before, and a couple of friends have mentioned that they're sure they would like it, only they don't have the time. That means that this month's series is just what they need: a retelling of "Cinderella" that will span a relatively short time before the writers return to the regular story. 1
If nothing else, there is this single panel, worthy of note in its own right.
1Don't blame me if you then get hooked on the rest of it. Well, ok--do. You'll thank me later.

In case you're not already hooked...
which you should be, take a look at this bit from Girl Genius.
And then read the rest of it. You won't regret it.

Another excerpt from Girl Genius
Take a look at this bit.
And then go back to the beginning and read the story.
It's off the wall.
It's complex.
Everyone is double-crossing everyone else and then un-crossing them.
I have no idea quite where the story is heading.
It's magnificent.
