Link to my review of Gone West by Carola Dunn

Still over at The Geek Girl Project.

Short version:Daisy's back & I'm glad!

I know, I still need to tell you about The Geek Girl Project, but in addition to it being an exciting spot to read reviews & techie stuff & craft ideas, we're working on something else exciting that I can't quite talk about yet, and I keep waiting til I can link to that Exciting New Thing. So, we'll see. I may let impatience get the better of me anyway :)

Review of Warehouse 13: Personal Effects

Still writing for The Geek Girl Project (and I really need to write more about that, soon!), so the main review is up over there.

Short version: It was ok. Entertaining and a good show to watch while I was tired & needing to relax in front of the TV (ok, computer), but not one of their outstanding shows either way.

And I really, really want to know where H. G. Wells is! They said they'd take Artie's opinion into consideration, and that's the last we've heard of her.

A Blake's 7 remake. Maybe, possibly, perhaps

So, it seems that a US company (Georgeville Television?) might be remaking Blake's 7 (see article on Deadline.com).

An American remake of a British TV show. Hm. Disaster is possible. We don't do the sarcastic one-liners all that well.

Budget? Is there one? Is it large enough to avoid bright orange ants and small enough to avoid special effects overkill?

Any remake of Blake's 7 seems...fraught with difficulty.

And then there's the fact that I couldn't watch the Ron Moore Battlestar Galactica because it got way too dark for me way too quickly--and Moore started with a cheerful pseudo-epic, while the B7 people are starting with a dark version of Robin Hood, which means the show could really get dark, and no one could complain that they were deviating from the original.

On the other hand...

It's Blake's 7. I want Blake's 7. There is a chance that I'll like it. And even if I don't...

Maybe they'll finally release those US DVD's of the original (Yes, I know. I'm probably the last person holding out for those).

And, for all that I linked to the deadline.com article, I really found out about it first at Den of Geek when I was reading their old Blake's 7 reviews last night because I enjoy good reviews. Also, I spent some time last night rereading memorable quotes on wikiquote, and, oh, I miss the show!

Note: I still think it's crazy that all the articles describing this possible remake are describing, and in some cases, embedding, the end of the original. Don't spoil it for the people who haven't watched!

Sightings

While out walking:

A mosaic-covered house, cupboard, and porch with an assortment of objects awaiting further work scattered about.

A horse and rider calmly using the crosswalk and then moving into the bike lane to continue on over the bridge.

A snowy egret landing in the Los Angeles River near sunset.

Pink, gold, and orange clouds over the river.

A family riding together, Mom and Dad on horses, younger child on a pony, the two smallest in the saddles in front of their parents,  accompanied by a cheerful black and white goat which trotted along quite happily, unleashed.

Link to my review of Warehous 13: An Evil Within

My main review is up here, at The Geek Girl Project.

I have fewer spoilery things to add here. I do think it will be interesting to see how the division among the Regents works out, since I get the impression they're used to unanimity.

Oh, and I'm betting on the Big Evil of the season being Artie himself, or at least, being a part of Artie. *If* the dream of Claudia attacks him with a knife comes true, it will be because she's trying to stop him from doing or becoming something.

That's all!
