Will it still have that special, extra something that makes a book shine?

Sometimes, yes. Sometimes... not so much, and that is always a big disappointment.

"Fun" is a good word for The Spindlers. I liked it. It was a nicely written, relaxing, comfortable--and comforting--jaunt.

I think it makes a difference that I have never read any of Oliver's work before. The couple of reviews I read by people who didn't like it were chiefly disappointed because it didn't live up to her previous work. I haven't read her previous work, so I had no expectations there!

I do, of course, have a couple of books by her on hold now, so I may develop expectations! We'll see. This is one of those times when there is no way I'm finishing all my library books before they're due, and I have a ridiculous amount on hold.Bookwyrmehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11206423697706457318noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-122786989853029411.post-88789191883504337682013-01-01T14:09:10.357-08:002013-01-01T14:09:10.357-08:00I love speculating about what books would have mad...I love speculating about what books would have made it into my favorites list if I had read them when I was a kid. Some of my childhood books completely hold up to adult rereads, and some I loved just as much don't at ALL. But this one does sound fun!Jennyhttp://jennysbooks.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.com
